OVERVIEW
The Department of Orthopaedics caters to a variety of Orthopedic problems as well as Trauma services.
This orthopedics department is having drainage of patients from NANDURBAR , DHULE,JALGAON AND NASHIK DISTRICTS.
Dhule district is the border districts to the states like GUJRAT AND MADHYA PRADESH, so we also treat the pt from those states.
This department is serving them needy and poor patients of NORTH MAHARASHTRA since last 23 yr .
We have competent surgeons’ Team handling all types of trauma including complex pelvic, acetabular and spinal injuries. Here at such remote place with basic facilities we are handling complex cases right from diagnosis to the treatment including paediatric ailments and various cold cases.
Clinical Services and Facilities
Orthopaedic department consist 30 bedded male ward ( no 17) and 30 bedded female ward (no 18) in hospital building.
2 Major operation theatres, with all facilities for major surgeries which consist of arthroplasty, arthroscopy, spine and trauma.
Minor surgical care is also available next to casualty for 24×7.
This orthopaedic department has 2 units. Every unit has 3 OPD days and 2 elective surgery days. Emergencies on the OPD day are looked after by respective unit.
We check nearly 2200 to 3000 pts in OPD and operate nearly 50-60 cases a month.
The department manages the major emergency polytrauma admissions at SBH GMC. All poor patients operated free of cost under MAHATMA JYOTIBA PHULE JAN AROGYA YOJANA (MJPJAY) and AYUSHYAMAN BHARAT YOJNA. Also all below poverty line and senior citizens also treated free of cost.
The department has 1 clinical demonstration room with capacity of 50 students with audio and visual equipments (LCD Projector and A set of computer).
Department also has separated departmental library with capacity of 10 student and has 32 books.
Teaching
The Faculty of Department of Orthopaedics takes active part in under graduate and post graduate teaching which comprises of lectures, tutorials and clinical postings for undergraduate students and weekly Seminars, Journal Clubs and case presentation along with monthly Surgical Audits for Postgraduate Students.
We have 3 pg degree seats
The post graduate students are trained in out patient examination, ward rounds including Grand rounds and Operative cases

- Daily opd (room no 31 and 32, plaster in room no 33, minor dressing in 23 in opd building)
2. Speciality spine opd on Monday and speciality HIP AND KNEE joint opd on Wednesday.3.
3. We regularly treat paediatric pt having congenital orthopaedic conditions through CLUB FOOT CARE service provided by central govt
4. We held spine camp each month by spine foundation Mumbai and there team .
5. We regularly do joint replacement surgeries through affordable cost .
6. We regularly perform arthroscopic surgery for variety of shoulder, elbow and knee pathologies .
7. We are skilled to operate variety of complex articular bony fractures ,
Complete trauma surgeries.
