Department of Medicine
Overview
Patient care, academics and research are the mainstay of the Department of Medicine, which began operations in 1989 since the inception of the medical college and has grown from strength to strength since then. During the last 35 years, it has gained wide admiration, trust and reputation not only in Khandesh region, but also in all over Maharashtra. The Department has the motto to treat with empathy, teach with dedication and research with passion.
The Department has 4 NMC approved MD seats per batch and fully equipped ICU with all life support systems and facilities including mechanical ventilators, haemodialysis, 2D ECHO machine. The Department has 3 wards with 120 beds, MICU with 20 beds and isolation ward with 10 beds, total 150 beds. Patients are treated and managed in OPD and IPD.
The Post Graduate Department of General Medicine has experienced and dedicated faculty members. Besides patient care, the faculty and PG residents are involved in classroom and bedside teaching of MBBS students.
Academic activities in the form of seminars, case presentations, journal clubs are conducted daily and interdepartmental academic activities like seminars, clinic-pathological conferences, clinico-radiological conferences are held periodically. All post graduates and teaching faculties do take part in these academic activities.
The Department boasts of some of the best faculties in Medicine. The Department has highly experienced faculties including Professor and HOD, 3 Associate Professors, 10 Assistant Professors Professors including Superspecialists - 3 Neurologists, 2 Nephrologists, 1 Gastroenterologist, 1 Cardiologist and 2 Senior Residents

- To provide quality patient care
- To provide quality teaching and training to the undergraduate, postgraduate M.B.B.S and dental students
- To educate and train nursing staff and paramedical staff
- To upgrade the Department to meet the national accreditation norms and standards inpatient care, education and research.
- To provide outpatient and indoor superspeciality facilities to the patients
- To provide standard protocol based management to the patients
- To encourage undergraduate students to undertake research activities

- OPD: One of the busiest out patients’ departments (OPDs) catering to the maximum number of patients visiting the hospital is in the Department.

- It also treats endocrine disorders like diabetes, thyroid diseases, adrenal insufficiency, metabolic diseases, neurological conditions, renal diseases, rheumatological conditions.
- Various autoimmune conditions, haematological conditions like different types of anaemias, platelet and white cell disorders are also treated here.
- Along with these, various critical care situations like poisoning, hanging, snake bite are well managed here.

“A Prospective Cohort Study to Determine Seroprevalence for Covid 19 lgG Antibodies and their Follow Up Among Adult Population Of Malegaon In Maharashtra” a longitudinal study was conducted with our Head Of the Department Prof. Dr. Nirmalkumar Rawandale as Principal Investigator involving a cohort of 2000 people in Malegaon with a population of approximately 5 lakhs.
